Which fishes do well in a planted aquarium ?

    Most community fish are ok... But you should look up how to take care of aquatic plants first. Without proper lighting they will just die. The light that comes with a tank is not sufficient. Youll also need plant fertelizer on the bottom with another layer of sand or gravel ontop and youll need a co2 set up which is really expensive... Honestly, I dont want to be rude, but if youre not sure which fish can even go in a planted tank, youre not ready for a planted tank. Im just trying to save u some money, cause I can promise you, without fertelizer, proper lighting, supplementation and co2, your plants will only live a month or 2. Try finding a fish forum online. Start there.... Type in something like planted fish tank forum im sure something will come up. Online forums are a wonderful place to start. People who successfully keep their tanks are just itching to share their knowledge with anyone who needs the help.

usually south american fish and fish from new guinea like rainbowfish. Not goldfish, not african cichlids. Fish like south american dwarf cichlids, rams, tetras, rasboras, corys all do well in planted tanks. But like the other guy said, make sure you have proper lighting.

A school of neon tetras you can also add a school of otocinclus catfish they will keep your live plants in top shape.

Most fish appreciate the planted scenery. The only i could think of that definitly wouldnt is a betta fish.
