How can I teach my conure to stop biting?

Baby Conure Biting- how do I get her to stop?

  • Hello, I have a 4 month old Conure who is just the sweetest bird! She cuddles, she steps up, she greets us-- all in all she is a love! The problem that I'm worried about is that she really likes texture. She will bite pens, my glasses, wooden sticks, carpet, paper, lettuce and more just to feel the texture in her beak. The problem with out hands (toes, arms, neck, etc) is that she loves the squishy feel. I'm really hoping that eventually she will grow out of it, but I don't want to encourage this behavior-- her little beak muscles are getting stronger and stronger and will eventually really hurt us. How do I get her to stop in a way that she will understand? She is such a goof-- she even tries to bite running water just to see what will happen! I haven't had a baby birdy in years, but I don't remember any of my others doing this-- they are all still very well behaved and just don't bite. Thank you!!!

  • Answer:

well you could try gently flicking her on the beak or saying no but never say her name else she will think its a bad thing good luck!
