Is it okay if your hermit crabs chirp?

I'm going on a vaction, will my hermit crabs be okay?

  • I'm going to be gone for two or three days. Nothing longer then that. Are my hermits gonna be okay? What can I do to prepare them for my absence? A pet sitter isn't an option

  • Answer:

They will be fine ! Put a little food in there for them. They will be fine for a few days.

Well I'd add an extra water dish, and give them a few extra hermit crab cakes in their food dish. I give mine a mix of hermit crab cakes, hermit crab meal, and 1 or 2 different types of tropical fish flakes. Remeber, hermit crabs need 2 water dishes, one with normal drinking water and another one that has aquarium sea salt to help with molting. So since hermit crabs mostly drink out of the normal drinking water water dish, I'd say give them another one. And if your only gone 2-3 days a little extra food will go a long way for them.

Darth Bane

Yes they should be fine. Hermit crabs are easily left on their own for days at a time with no help. But make sure you have water readily available for them. Hermit crabs MUST wet their gills several times a day-even just 3 days without water would be bad. I would also make sure to clean their cage before you go-since hermit crabs are sometimes little bastards that like to make messes when you don't watch them lol

Captain Crunch

Yes they will be fine! I would put a little extra food in the cage and also make sure there sponge is really really wet, so they have enough water and they should be ok.
