What is there to do in Cape May with a baby?

Where can i get a baby turtle in cape coral florida?

  • People say its illegel to sell turtles under 4 inches, but Pet Kingdom sells way smaller, and i already bought a turtle there, its about two inches. But i needa know where i can get a yellow belly slider, a red eared slider, OR a western painted in cape coral, or in North fort myers florida? Thanks (:

  • Answer:

I have lived in florida most of my life, and I lived in Ft myers for a few years. There was a pet store on the corner of college pkwy and 41 in ft myers I think it was petland, but it might have been pet kingdom or pet safari. They probably had the best reptile selection in sw florida when I was there. That area was near devoid of reptile shops. They had toucans and gibbons for sale. How do you legally sell a gibbon? But I digress... The 4" turtle law in florida was put into effect to stop people from having small turtles that children were putting into their mouthes and contracting salmonella. The law is fairly easily skirted around, its more of a public health issue, fish and game doesn't really monitor it. Allot of pet stores will sell turtles under 4" with a disclaimer that they are only to be used for educational purposes, or some such nonsense. They may have you sign a waiver saying you will only use it for this or that. You could also try gulf cost reptiles, they are a wholesaler in ft myers, call them up and tell them what you are looking for. I don't know if they do turtles though. If you want to drive across the alley there are some very good shops on the other coast, been siegel.and underground reptiles. They will ship to you as well. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?38294-Gulf-Coast-Reptiles http://undergroundreptiles.com/turtle.html http://albinonile.com/

You should fill out an online form for the better business bureau to go have a looksee at the tiny turtles at Pet Kingdom. They won't be selling hatchlings anymore. I doubt there's a whole lot of other stores selling illegal sized turtles if that's what you want.
