How long can a turtle live with out eating?

  • ok i need to know how long can a turtle live with out food because my a/c brooke and i need to sleep in a hotel so i dont get so hot.

    A healthy turtle can go without food for a couple of weeks without losing weight. If it is any longer, it will lose weight, but that doesn't mean it will die. A week or two will not hurt your turtle. I know to many it feels weird, but turtles don't need for everyday and require heat for their metabolism. If you want to ease your conscience, I suggest is leave some feeder fish in the tank and some snails for it to look for. As well drop in some leafy greens. I'd leave your turtle. Taking it to the hotel will just cause stress. If the tank water is around 90F or lower, the turtle will be fine. It will even come out to bask to cool off at night. As long as the tank water does not get over 90F, it will be OK. I have lived in Taiwan and it get hots there - VERy HOT. So, I have experienced warm water. Something you can do it fill a big soda pop bottle with water and chuck it in a freezer. Then put that in the tank to cool it off. Make a couple of these and interchange them when one melts. Not eating isn't going to be your problem. Over heating will be. If the tank gets to be over 90 degrees over an extened period of time (about 5 days +) then you run a high risk of boiling your turtle. If it's a juvenlie or adult then it can go 2 weeks without food but if it's a baby then it can only go about a week. Honestly, I don't see why you can't return to your house to feed it and check on it but hey, maybe it doesn't really mean that much to you. If it was me, I'd take mine with me. They mean the world to me.

I dont quite get the question. Your ac broke, so you have to sleep in a hotel. You cant take your turtle's food there? Unless you mean how long your turtle can live without AC. Well, my friend told me that her turtle has to eat everyday, but my guess would be a day without food. Hope I helped you in any way! :)
