Why wont my turtle eat?

maybe you should give it away since you shouldnt have pets because you 'sorta' forget to feed them. i wish your parents 'sorta' forgot to feed you when you were a helpess baby. its the same thing! give the turtle away to someone who cares. i bet he'd eat then!

a pet shop will tell you the same thing a turtle lives off of water, and the nurtions in it. I don't know hat kinda of turtles you hvae but mine are water turtles. I have 2 turtles of my own, I HAVE HAD THEM 4 yrs and 3 yrs for the other. I feed them onece a week. they are find and growing good. Turtles like fish die easliy turtles carry alot of virus. one turtle prolly had a virus then it broke down in its body and cuzed it to be sick and die and the virus can be passed on to other turles. I FEED mine turtles reptile premium sticks. you can find this at wal-mart or at a petshop about 3 dollars a can and it lasts about 4-6mnths. I have water turtles and I put about 15 sticks at a time to last! and pets will cried there bodys to dead if it misses another turtle! they are easy missed by other pets! try eating it another turtle. and make sure you clean it's tank! in case you haven't where it is free of viruses! I HOPE YOUR TURLE gets well I love all my pets! if you have a land turtle then they eat grass my friend has one, and dried shrimp and carrots! GOOD LUCK I HOPE THIS HELPED!!

Yes, like vegbabe said, the water temperature has to be warm (75-78F). Temperatures that are too cold will inhibit appetite and reduce activity. Well turtles can't digest food if their water is too cold. so make sure it is warm enough for them. also, try putting more water in. an inch is hardly enough. and if it is lonely, give it something to do, like a rock to hind in, or a plant to chew on. good luck =)

There may be a number of reasons why your turtle wont eat. One might be because it is winter. Turtles tend to slow down in colder weather and dont eat. My turtle does that every winter. Another reason might be the food. If a wild turtle is fed food from a pet store they wont eat it because it is used to eating food from the wild. Maybee your turtle doesnt recignize its food as food any more. You may need to try to feed it different food or try feeding it live minos. You should also try to get it a heat lamp if your turtle doesnt already have one. If none of this works you need to get it to a vet who specializes in reptiles as soon as possible!
