Although it is illegal- no one will ever know. Just get one from a pet shop and say you are buying it as a pet. Personally I think many mice have worse fates- for example the ones which are bred for use in laboratory experiments. There is a possibility that the snake could get injured by the mouse, which is often warned about in books and online. However what they don't often say is that this usually only happens when someone leaves a rodent in the tank insetad of feeding it straight to the snake. If the snake is then not hungry, and the mouse is then the mouse will begin chewing on the snake. Anyway, I personally think there is little risk involved as long as you feed the mouse directly to the snake, maybe removing the snake from the tank to do so. They have evolved to kill prey very efficiently so the risk of the snake getting seriously injured during the kill of a mouse- which pops it's clogs pretty quick- is minimal. I would imagine there would be more danger with a rat. I also think it is nice to allow the snake once in a while to behave as it would naturally. If you do just release the mouse into the tank- make sure the snake takes it, otherwise remove it. A mouse from a pet shop should have been fed on good food, because in the UK here are strict standards on how pet shop animals are to be looked after, and fed. If you are worried however just set up a little mouse house, perhaps in a plastic container from the kitchen (with holes punched in) and feed your mouse for a few days on some nice fresh food.

Any petstore that sells reptiles, or snakes, sells live and frozen mice. Or at least thats the way it is in america Just go to any petstore with reptiles, and get a live mice But, why do you want to do that. If your snake is a ball python, they are very picky eaters, and a change in their diet can cause it to stop eating for months. I wouldn't give him a live mouse as a treat. They don't know what christmas is and isn't expecting a present....so just keep feeding it the way you normally feed it and this ensures you that your phython will keep his original eating habbits

Get your mouse from a pet shop. Pet shops and people who raise mice tend to feed them a commercially prepared diet designed for the nutritional needs of mice. Buy four or six of the mice and you can then have some for the next time as well as raise future generations of mice to feed him without having this issue again. Mice are extremely easy to raise.

You can get into trouble feeding your snake a live mouse if the Rspca found out you could get taking to court for animal cruelty. Also if your snake is captive breed it is not adviced to feed them live mice as they could harm the snakes eyes as they have always been fed dead mice so they don't know how to hunt for live prey.

sorry you wont find any were that sells live mice as food for your snake as it is illegal to do so as it a form of animal cruelty not just to the poor little mouse that will be scared sh**les but to your python which could and probably end up getting bitten which will cause glynn a lot of pain as the wound would end up getting infected due to the humidity which germs love. sorry to bust your bubble but what your python has never had it'll never miss

Don't do it for several reasons: - It is cruel to the mouse - Your snake can be injured by the mouse fighting back, seriously. - Once it eats a live mouse, it might very well never eat another frozen one again. Why would you risk your snakes health to be cruel to a mouse? Its a shame to see someone who couldn't care less about the welfare of their pets.

As previously said, it is illegal in the UK to feed live rodents of any kind to any reptile. Also the mouse will bite the snake when it is being attacked so you may have a very large vet bill. If I was you, I would stick to frozen and buy it a rabbit, guinea pig or rat and feed it that. You can get these readily from any reptile store or www.livefoods.co.uk is a good site.
