Which monitor should I get?

Which would make a great "SECOND" Boa, Python, & Monitor to get?

  • As i've said in my questions in the past that I was planning on owning a collection of reptiles filled with Snakes, Iguanas, and Monitor Lizards, but lately it's mainly just the monitors, boas, and pythons that had became an interest so I'll just be starting off small with just 3 reptiles as I already have a ball python and will be getting a red-tail boa and savannah monitor sometime this year and i've done my research and what not, but after taking care of them for a few years and when i'm ready to get more then which do you think will be a great SECOND boa, python, and monitor to get and explain on why? I've always had an interest in Green Tree Pythons, Emerald Tree Boas, Blood Pythons, African Rock Pythons, Reticulated Python, Nile Monitor, and Asian Water Monitor, but these seem to be for more experienced people and kind of harder to care for so i'll probably just get them in the near future providing that these animals are still legal to possess, but yeah after having the Red-Tail, Ball, and Savannah Monitor for a few months/years and when i'm ready to acquire more then which would make a great second: boa, python, and monitor to get? Thanks in advance:)

  • Answer:

Blood pythons are a good snake to have, don't get to big, and contrary to their reputation, have a good temperament. Nile monitors & Asian waters are for more experienced, they have more complicated requirements and can be a bit testy. Ackie monitors & boscs are good. They don't get too large, have a nice temperament and are easy to get a hold of. As for boa's, sands &rosy are lovely, but so are ETB's, but these are more ornamental snakes and shouldn't be handled too often due to having a really nasty nature, and a bad bite to go with it. Hope this helps :)

Other answers

sand boa, rosy boa, spotted python, childrens python, Brazilian rainbow boa. all of thees are easy to keep, all known for having to have very good temperament. humidity is not a huge issue (except for the BRB) they all stay at a smaller size. do not need any special lighting.
