How to take A-levels from home?

My 6 month old puppy pees as soon as I get home and pick her up to take her outside, how can i stop this?

  • I have a 6 month old female puppy, Bella, and we got her from 4.5 months old. She was not toilet trained at all so we have been training her. Shes been much better lately, but when she is home during the day for 5 hours, and I come home, I go into the kitchen without making any fuss, no talking to her, and just pick her up to take her outside so she can pee. But as soon as I go to pick her up, she starts peeing. She then holds it and continues it outside. She does the same thing first thing in the morning when I go in to take her out. It seems she is doing it because she is excited, as when I open the kitchen door, she has already walked across the room from her bed and is sitting there and has been able to hold it till then, but as soon as I go to pick her up she starts to pee. We feed her now twice a day, dry complete food. She is fed first thing in the morning once she has toileted outside, and then again in the evening when i get home (after taken outside) We take her out a few times more through the day/evening so she does have plenty of time to toilet. How can I stop her from peeing like this when we go to pick her up to take her out?

  • Answer:

She is probably just excited cuz she's at home alone most of the day.best options get her professionally trained..its actually pretty cheap.dog pee smell is not easy to get rid of and may cost more than the training itself

Don't pick her up let her walk outside.

I would put a leash on her and walk her outside, or direct her to the door and let her walk/run over there. When my puppy was first in the crate, when we opened the crate we would have to have her go STRAIGHT to the door or she would run under the table and pee- we corralled her over to the door, put on the leash, and went immediately out. It sounds like it's the picking her up that encourages the peeing, so try walking her out. It's impressive that she's in such a large area and not peeing (normally dogs need a smaller place to avoid accidents), so she clearly understands expectations and can hold her bladder until then. Either the picking up is exciting her, or it's pressing on her bladder.

Crate training is usually the best option. They won't pee where they sleep.

Try not picking her up and just walking right past her and to the door for her to follow you outside.

Sorry for your problem, but this is a common one for puppies. They have small bladders and just cannot hold for ever. At her age she should be allowed to empty her bladder every 2 hours. She has already been thinking about needing to pee, for probably 2 hours before you give her that chance. As soon as she sees you she is thinking PEE< YEA. The you pick her up and squash her abdomen and out it comes. I personally hate the indoor, pee pads for dogs, but I think in your case you need to use them until she gets little older. That way she is not damaging her bladder by holding for so long. Try to imagine trying to hold your bladder for 3 hours after your body has already told you to go empty it.
