American bully legit breed or not?

  • Many people think american bullies are now a legit breed of their own. I want to know who agrees or disagrees with this? Please give supporting details. My opinion? These so called ambullies are no better or different than designer breeds. They are bred only for looks and head size. They are bred for pets only they have no legit purpose or job. They don't breed true like a pure bred dog does. This "breed" is basically just mixed up badly bred APBT (some say they only used amstaffs and APBTs to create this "breed" and some say they used many different breeds such as cane corso, mastiff, bulldog etc which is my believing). Now that they have their own "breed club" and have "shows" it some how makes it okay and legit for them to breed badly bred dogs? Not in my opinion. This is their breed club. http://theabkcdogs.org/ A lot of the info is not even complete nor do I see a breed standard for any of these sizes they come in (standard, pocket, and XXL). The breed club seems like a joke to me as do the shows and registries for this "breed". So what do you think? They have been breeding them since the 90's(so about 20 years). Legit breed or not?     Definitely not legit. As I understand it,the standard class also known as "classic" was what the original APBT/AmStaff crosses fit into.There are several dogs,especially early Razors Edge dogs that looked to be APBT/AmStaff only and showed successfully as dual registered dogs.The fact you have a "classic" designation for a new "breed" in only 20 years says quite a bit. The pocket class was developed when these dogs were mixed with bulldogs to get the shorter more compact dogs. The XL class was the last to be introduced.This was to gain the registration of the big mastiff crosses. Rather than enforcing their standard and only placing dogs in their shows that bred true to type,they make a new class every time a new fad in breeding takes hold.This makes it pretty obvious that they're in it for the money only. They also give out awards for the most "extreme" dogs at their shows.Many times dogs that win this have deformities such as dwarfism that makes their shape and size "extreme". As you stated,just another designer breed.These dogs are nothing more than a leash ornament for most.A poorly bred bred one at that.

Definitely NOT a legit breed. For one I've never heard of them, and also I just googled them and they look monstrous, as in terribly bred... You practically said everything, the Standard, Pocket and XXL whom is complete BS. What LEGIT breed would have that?! Shows and an obviously NOT legit breed club doesn't mean anything in this case. Just like the Alaskan Huskies... Ugh... Not a legit breed. Period. Just another poorly bred mongrel in the society. Whom are breeding un-compatible mixes. Think of the health issues involved with those mutts all together.. #Loved the video =] ETA: Forgot to add- IMO, 20 years is NOT enough time to have a selectivley bred, LEGIT BREED dog. I'm praying this "breed" doesn't become one. It takes far longer than 20 years to get what you WANT out of it doesn't it?! And obviously, whoever breeds these mongrels are just breeding for looks. I thought the whole idea of establishing a breed club was to create a standard of the breed and only breed dogs for that standard. I guess they have another agenda of breeding whatever they want and calling it a ambully. IMPO they look like crap. One of the reasons that BSL list anything that resembles a APBT is included and this crappy breeding is why. I lovd the video, thanks I can always use a laugh in here.

It's sad... Seriously. They are probabilly one of the most phisically disgusting dogs I have ever seen in my intire life and they look like they can't even walk around like a normal dog. They look like a strange mix between an ugly hippo and a crazy overweight wild boar. I think I'd rather walk an ugly hippo or a crazy overweight wild boar than this... Personally, I don't care at all what AKC says. A dog's a dog, pure or not. And NO dog is really "pure" even if it's only been with it's own kind for 40 generations. They still have genes in them leftover from their wolf days when they didn't care who they had, as long as she was in heat. Same with humans.
