Tips for taking care of a puppy?
-
I'm 14 and this puppy will be the first puppy that I will be taking care of on my own. I need some tips on how to care for the puppy. I'll be getting her this week and will be in school from 8:10am-3:00pm from mon-friday. My mom will be home sometimes but after this week I have 2 weeks off of school so play/take care of the pup. I heard you have to feed a pup 4 times a day, I can feed her in the morning and when I get home from school, but how do I feed her when I'm not there? I need A LOT of tips for taking care of an 8 week old Bichon Frise puppy! Thanks :)

Answer:
I got my puppy when I was 14 too! haha, well I feed my dog before school, when I get home, and again around dinner time. When I'm at school Id put her In her kennel because she isn't potty trained yet, and most dogs won't do their business In where they sleep. So until you potty train it leave it In the kennel! when you have your break you can take time to potty train and leash train it. Good luck:)

First and foremost, CALL A VET! You need to make arrangements to have your pup seen by a vet to get immunizations, etc. The doc will let you know what to do. In the interim, my puppy ate 3 times per day. I fed her PUPPY kibble and fresh water. If you are going to leave the pup alone for long periods, please crate your pup or confine it to a small, safe space. The dog is tiny; the house is huge. You do a dog a disservice if you let it roam free right away. It will pee everywhere; dime size pees but it will do it just the same. Pad your puppys space but let it have a bed in the crate and put a water bottle on the crate so t can drink at will. DO NOT CHANGE FOODS ALL AT ONCE. this will make your puppy have diarrhea. If the pup vomits alot or has loose stools, CALL THE VET.A pup is a baby. You really need to treat it like one. It will cry in the crate. You MUST ignore that or you will have an awfullty spoiled dog on your hands. Have some hand sanitizer around and use it and make anyone who comes in contact use it. You want a healthy pup... That said, enjoy your new friend and always remember, it is a dog; not human. Love is the answer. KEEP OFF OF HIGH SPOTS. If they jump from couch or bed, the legs break!

I'm not to familiar with your breed but I would do some research. As far as feeding 4 times a day, feed him very small portions so he dosnt over eat. Some pups eat to much, to fast, and they can flip their stomach so be careful. You sound responsible and prepared enough, just do some research and you'll be fine. Hope this helps! :D

Leave food in her bowl and make sure she has water too, make sure she can get out to use the bath room cause your mom will very up set if she messed up her home, when u get home do your home work then take her for a walk.
