Why is my dog's eye swollen?

• yesterday my brother and his pitbull came from the dog park. i noticed something was wrong with her right eye, and when i asked my brother what was wrong he said "oh, she just got dirt in it that's all." upon closer examination i found that her eye was a little swollen and she kept itching it. my brother kept blowing air into her eye even after i told him to leave it alone. so today i checked up on her and her eye is still swollen, a little red, and she keeps itching it. she licks her paw then itches it, which is weird. so i'm pretty sure that the swollen eye isn't because she has dirt in her eye, and my brother seemed a little suspicious. so what is it? did she get injured at the dog park?

  Please take your dog to the vet. She's obviously in discomfort and she will only make it worse pawing at it. Have your parents get the story out of your brother so the vet has a better idea how the injury occurred. Your brother may be afraid he's going to get in trouble if he accidentally hurt her, or he may be afraid your dog will be in trouble if she got into a scuffle at the park. But the vet would probably like to know what happened. If you have some saline solution at home, you could try rinsing her eye out with it, but the dog still needs to see a vet tomorrow morning!
