What are the purple lumps?

What are these lumps on my dog's back?

  • My 8 year old shih tzu has always gotten these lumps on her back throughout her life. They are small lumps that can be moved and are close to the surface of the skin. They don't bother her or seem to cause her any pain and with the vet being so expensive we just can't afford to take her. My Dad typically just pops them (or they burst on their own) and this yellow/white stuff comes out as well as some blood. These lumps occur one at a time so when one goes away, a few weeks later she has one somewhere else on her back. Are these lumps just fatty deposits? Or are they something else that should be taken to get checked by the vet (if your dog has had similar please share what the vet had told you)?

  • Answer:

It sounds like granular cysts. You shouldnt have to worry about them as the are similar to us with black heads. Just bath your dog good and deter herbfrom scratching if she starts to :)

I have an 8 year old shih tzu and he gets the same thing! My uncle (hes a vet) said that when dogs get old, they get warts. So that's what my dad an I assumed they are.

when my dog has fat deposits they are like mini tiny tumers... not somehting you can pop.

it could be mats, lumps, or A tumer, get it checked and good luck

Look it up online, but it could be anything honestly I'm sure there is affordable vet's out there you should look up or go ask around after all, your dog does depend on you since you adopted it
