Anyone in the Houston Texas area that knows of a school, etc. to train your animal to be a service dog?

Answer:
Try checking with your vet, they may know of some services. Typically these are small groups that do the training. Keep in mind, while it's a great idea to want to offer your pup as a service dog, there are very rigid guidelines involved. One of biggest factors is your dog's personality, as I understand it, there are batteries of tests to ensure the dog's personality is just right. Most service dogs will live with the person in need of the service, but there are groups that take specifically trained dogs to Nursing Homes or other types of group homes for visits and play time. This may be perfect for you and your pooch. If this is something you are looking for, and your vet cannot help, check with the local Nursing Homes, hospitals or even the county MHMR to see if they have information on groups with visiting pets. Best of luck!

I am from Porter and I would recommend contacting PET-CO or PETSMART if they can't do it there they will know where you can get it done.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/am6Cw If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on. It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.
