Anyone in the Houston Texas area that knows of a school, etc. to train your animal to be a service dog?

Try checking with your vet, they may know of some services. Typically these are small groups that do the training. Keep in mind, while it's a great idea to want to offer your pup as a service dog, there are very rigid guidelines involved. One of biggest factors is your dog's personality, as I understand it, there are batteries of tests to ensure the dog's personality is just right. Most service dogs will live with the person in need of the service, but there are groups that take specifically trained dogs to Nursing Homes or other types of group homes for visits and play time. This may be perfect for you and your pooch. If this is something you are looking for, and your vet cannot help, check with the local Nursing Homes, hospitals or even the county MHMR to see if they have information on groups with visiting pets.
