Who is Benjamin Chow?

I have a male chow chow and want a companion for him. ?

• I am at home most days (I mostly work nights and my boyfriends home when I'm not) but in september I start university and will be gone from 9am - 4pm 4 days a week, my boyfriend works 5 days a week 7am-5pm. I will have a break throughout the day but I live 30-40 minutes away from my university so I would be out all day. When we aren't in we have family members that go in an feed him and let him out for the toilet, but they don't stay to play with him because they have things to do and it's a favour for us, so I was thinking for time to go quicker for him to get him a playmate. I wanted a playmate with similar needs and energy levels as my chow chow such as a Samoyed, similar hair and history. I have done my weeks/months of research, just as I did before I got my chow chow (about 8 months worth). one thing I cannot find out is an experts an experienced owner or in general an opinion on which breed would be a good playmate/live in for a chow. I would get a female because male chow chow's are apparently territorial, but she would be spayed because I don't want them to breed. I would like to neuter my chow for health reasons to prolong life but my boyfriend is terrified it will change his personality, when he was younger his childhood dog was neutered and it completely changed his personality to a nutty, not loving dog. My chow chow is such a chilled dog in every environment, whether it's his obedience/training classes or a walk he is so lovely and playful, he is not weird/aggressive with strangers or other dogs he is worrying around them really because if I don't keep my eye on him he will walk home with them he's that friendly.   Aww. I have a chow chow too. Anyway I think that the best companion for a chow would be another chow. Every person I know with chows,myself excluded, has two. They are like potato chips. You can't have just one.
