Answer:
Please tell your mom that the kitten most likely has an upper respiratory infection. That's what they call a cat cold. Tell your mom that if the kitten is left untreated, it will go blind. He needs to see a vet ASAP for antibiotics and eye ointment from the vet. Also, tell your mom if she doesn't take the cat to the vet, that is considered animal cruelty and neglect and she could be charged! If your mom cannot afford treatment, then please let her know she needs to surrender the cat to a no-kill shelter where they will properly care for it! The kitten deserves to be treated!!

It is either an upper respiratory infection, or a herpes virus infection. Left untreated, an upper respiratory infection will cause your kitten to get very ill, and possibly die. Kittens are babies - they don't have the reserves to wait things out like you possibly could with an adult cat. If it's herpes (the virus that causes cold sores in humans - it's not contagious to humans though) he is at very much a risk for not just going blind, but losing an eye. I recently got a foster kitten from the shelter, and he had a bad herpes infection in both eyes. Luckily for him, we were able to save both eyes. But it cost over $100 in eye drops and antibiotics to get him right again. And that didn't include the vet's charges - she donated them, thank goodness, as it was three visits. That isn't to say that your kitten's going to cost that much - but just to show that when you wait things out, often the get much much worse and not better. What would have taken a $12 tube of antibiotic to fix cost almost 10 times that because he wasn't treated. Point that out to your mom. Getting vet care when needed is part of what comes with getting a pet.

Eye infections do NOT get better the longer you wait. Get your mom OR dad to take you and the cat to the vets.

If you can't or won't take care of a pet, then you shouldn't have a pet. It's against the law to neglect an animal with an illness or infection. Tell your mom that. .
I agree with CTU - probably cat flu. He needs treating soon.
