Another question about my kitty?

  • why wont she stop crying? shes not bothering me bt i feel like she is sad. she has been fine all day up until everyone went to bed and im the only one up and she is crying so loud and i hold her and try to play with her but she doesnt want me, for some reason she likes my husband ,and i dont know why but she followed him around and slept on his lap and he took her to bed with him but she was getting to playful and he couldnt sleep and now she just crys and crys. this is the first night inour home for her and im sure she misses her kitty family but like i said shes been fine all day until my husband went to bed and also have been showing her her litter box but she hasnt used it yet and the people we got her from said she does know how to use litter box. im beginning to think she just dont like me. how can i make her happy and she wont play or lay with me. I dont want her to be sad hr first night here.

    We just got a new kitten/cat in our house also. He did the same things you are saying your kitten did. He quit crying on the 3rd day with us. We dont know his age, and guessed he might have been in heat. Hes been here with us for 9 days now, and hes fine, and has assumed the role of being the Alpha-male in the household, (we have 2 other older female cats, fixed).. Good luck with your new addition.. He should be fine in a day or so.. Like you said, Probably just misses his kitty family..

Try puting a wind up clock under the covers in the corner of her bed as this will simulate the mothers heart beat and maybe place something of your husbands (like an old shirt) in her bed. As far as who she likes, sometimes a female cat will feel more comfortable around a male but she will come around in time just have to be patient. when she goes to the vet if possible both of you take her as she will look for someone familiar to seek security with and will help her trust you more. If she is litter trained already just put her in her litter box once so she knows where it is and she will go when shes ready which might only be when the setting in the house is comfortable for her.

she is just adjusting to her new surroundings. If she is a kitten, she is probably looking for her family. Most kitties will forget upsetting things within two weeks. Give her two weeks, and if she is a kitten get her fixed when she is 3 months old, and I promise you, she will love you, and probably become your babylove.

She is missing her mum - have you got an old blanket and a hotwater bottle. Put it in her bed with the water bottle wrapped up inside - it will keep her warm and snug. If you have a clock that has a tick - put that in there, this will be a substitute for her mothers heart beat - sounds weird but it does work - I used it with my dog he cried all night the first night we had him :)

try giving her some treats? maybe a bowl of milk? Tomorrow if you can get some catnip... Cats are unique, it takes time and lots of attention and love to win them over.. but it's not impossible. So don't worry so much, just try the treats or the milk and um..let her sleep in the room with you guys : ) Good night... : )

You answered your own question. Your kitty will need time to adjust to a new home, just like people do. Just because she prefers your husband right now doesn't mean that she won't warm up to you eventually. I have had my cat for 13 years now. For most of her life, she would only let me and a couple of other people show her affections, and she would only go to me and those couple other people voluntarily as well. Nowadays, she is more "open", and she will approach people she is not so familiar with more. She used to only lay with me, but since my fiance has been giving her kitty treats and being really sweet to her (I tease him that he's bribing her), now she lays with him about half the time. Just give your kitty time to adjust, and in that time she may also adjust to you and learn to feel comfortable with you like she is with your husband.
