Having conjunctivitis that look like allergic conjunctivitis?

My cats eyes look sick?

  • my cats eyes look sick. the corners are darker than usual. it looks like it may be something like conjunctivitis, i have noticed it over the past few days. i have 6 cats here at the moment. 4 of which are 6 week old kittens a 6 month old kitten from previous little and the mother. it looks like they many all have it. when the kittens were 3 weeks old i notice a few had gunk on their eyes so i wiped they're eyes with warm clean and it seemed to go away. any idea what this is, whats caused it or what to do about it? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Answer:

That many cats in the house can encourage a myriad of problems. Cats in groups are susceptible to Upper respiratory infections and these infections spread rapidly. Also cats can get and spread a type of Herpes that will look like an upper resp infection. They need to see a vet and get some medications for their eyes, possibly antibiotics or even some herbal remedies for stuffiness. The kittens are at a definite risk. If this gets to their noses and they can't breathe easily then it'll be hard for them to nurse and they'll decline. Go see your vet for a proper diagnosis. Good luck to you. Wash your hands a lot too and don't touch YOUR face either.
