What is a "no-kill" shelter?

Is SEAACA downey a no kill animal shelter? Or a shelter that takes cats?

• I need to know this because my aunt recently dropped off her 1yr old male cat two days ago at our house. He has all his shots, is neutered and he is litter box trained. She didn't even give much of an explanation as to why she couldn't take him to a shelter. All she said was that she had to get rid of him that day because her apartment neighbors were annoyed with her. She said he lived with other cats and a SMALL dog but my dog is huge! It would be totally fine if he got along with my golden retriever but he seems to be very weird around her and she won't except him. I want to take him to a NO-KILL animal shelter so i googled shelters and the SEAACA came up.The only thing is that i want to know if they ARE NO-KILL or not. I really cant keep him and he's such a beautiful, handsome and (without dogs) well behaved cat and i would hate to leave him in a ruthless animal pound. By the way i need a shelter NEAR La Mirada, Ca. Also if you know of any NO-KILL animal shelter that will take this sweet cat please please Tell Me!!! So basically do you know off a place that takes year old cats and is NO-KILL? Thanks for your help and i only do this because I'm concerned for this poor cat.

  I looked at their site and the do take cats. Many shelters will require you to pay a fee to surrender a pet. I didn't see anything that said if they were a no kill shelter, but you can call and find out. They also have a map with shelter locations. And 2 days isn't much time, it can take a cat weeks to adjust to a new home and new animals, so if you really do want to keep him give him a bit more time to see if he will adjust to your home.
