How to tell if my toe is broken?

How can i tell if my cat has broken a toe before?

• well on hisfront paw one toe sticks up futher then the rest . andit goes sideways alil bit . his paw has swollen up in the past twice . and i freaked out . so i babyed him but now ivenoticed when hes walking th bones stick up . it doesn seem t hurt him but i was wonering what could thisbe could he have broken his toe

  The next time you have him at the vet's, ASK! A vet will probably be able to tell simply by feeling his foot and toes carefully and gently, and will probably want to watch him walk, too. If that is unclear, you could consider an x-ray.
