Why do cats always stare at people?

Why do cats like to stare? people with cats, how do you feel when your cats keep staring at you?

  • Answer:

Cats stare because they can. hehe... No really, I think its a mix of nearly all of the above. Curiosity, wanting something, plotting evil deeds...its all in a days work for a kitty. Mine is actually somewhat not there, so she just stares. Tonight she sat on (not at...on) my foot and watched me eat. Every freakin bit I took she watched. Geez...cant catch a break...

Its probably thinking of a way to kill us and then take the car into town to party.

They are judging you, and feeling nothing but contempt.

My cats stare at us to sense when we might be making a move to go to the kitchen (food). One of our cats, Buddy, has a strange stare sometimes, as if he's observing us to report back to the mothership in orbit.

it kinda scares me but i think its because they are amused by humans or they could just be happy.

My wife has a cat. Yes it does have a tendency to stare. One day I decided to stare back...up close. I went and picked Charlie up, sat down in a comfortable spot, held him up by the shoulders, and stared back. After a while my eyes started to cross. I noticed that when this happened , it frightened him very much. He started to growl at me and his whole body tensed up. While this was happening he would NOT look into my eyes. Wasn't trying to terrify him, but he was terrified. To this day I can pick him up and the first thing he looks at is my eyes, to see if they are crossed. He's fine as long as they are not. The second I cross them, he starts acting up. Funny lil tidbit huhm?

i love it when my cats are looking at me with their beautiful blue eyes..... i wouldn't call it staring though. their eyes just look different than ours and it seems like they are staring at us when they are looking at us

Mine do it all the time. It's almost like "I'm here, what are you going to do about it?" I stare back or ignore them. Maybe they really are plotting evil............. If anyone ever really figured out why cats do something, let the rest of us know will you? Thanks.
