How do I get my cat to scratch the scratch post?

you can buy liquid catnip spray at almost all pet stores walmart kmart. a few squirts on the post should do it. also use plain water to keep her off the couch.

Does your cat have a favorite toy try tieing it to the scratching post. Put toys around it that the cat know is there and it might help the cat understand that the scratching post is there. Or like all the other people said you can try the cat nip.
