Beware of ados.co.uk and free/and not free kitten adoption. Hi everyone I would like to share with you, what can happen when you don’t think clearly because you have something other on your mind. in the last to years, after looking for a job for some time online as well as register to win some prizes I was getting lots of phone calls with some good offers. the only problem was that they all were scams, just someone trying to steal money from me. some examples of it would be, when some call and offers me some online job but all I need is a starter package that cost 150£, and I need to send they money through post. The biggest mistake was that, they called from privet number, could not even explain what was the job, only said after I pay they will explain everything and that I need to send money by post to the address not in the UK. Of course they didn’t say it like that, they were talking in such away that some people could easily believe and sent some money in the end. I had few similar stories and always check 2 times and could easily distinguish between a scam and real offer. However recently I got my self in almost perfect scam, well it was only because I got a Persian chinchilla kitten not long time ago that was quite expensive, and I was getting more money to get her a friend, when I found online a free adoption adds from people on ados.co.uk one of them about the guy who was leaving to Poland in early morning next day so he said he will send a kitten with a pet service delivery, me and my girlfriend agreed and indeed in the morning we got conformation that he gave the kitten to pet delivery service and they should contact us soon. They did, I got 2 emails from that service, which really looks like it’s a proper agency, we knew the price for delivery was 60 and we assumed we will have to pay when the kitten will arrive but in 2nd email from pet service it was explained that first we must to pay which something as a insurance for pet service and then they will deliver the kitten. well that what we did , we went to post and paid the money, and this were they called us and start talking that the kitten is sick and need some shots that are very expensive. this were I froze look at my girlfriend and in my head I said F*** its 99% a scam, first still having 1% hope I said them on the phone that we have a main contract from the start which is £60 pounds for a delivery , so now please deliver the kitten and then we going to talk about the rest, from voice of a person I was talking I suddenly understood that he realised he will not get any more money from me and said ok we will now process with your order and deliver the kitten, after that the phone went off , and the number was not working anymore. there much more to this story, the few other important fact is that I rushed to the post office to stop get the money but I was to late, I called the police, they were very rude and just told me that I will get my kitten today. If I don’t I need to go to court, well Mr smart police who should I take to the court? This is your job to find people like that. well I was really shock even more after I saw that this was not the only add to be scam of this type, there were lots of them , more than half in December are actually scams. the scary thing was that they were totally different, some with only kitten pictures some with people and kittens, each different town and a little bit different story. However last points stays the same, the will never give you their address and always will try to make up some story and say that the only way you can get kitten is with the same pet delivery service or somehow through the plane. and even the adds are totally different on most of them there are same people behind, because after I lost £60 and refuse to pay more, they stop sending the emails and phone me, so I tried to contact the other add on ados.co.uk and I didn’t get any answer from them. HOWEVER WHEN I EMAIL THEM FROM A DIFFERENT EMAIL, which did not contain my name or last name, just a nick name all the sellers contacted me the SAME DAY and when I went deeper on how I can pick the kitten and ask where they live, the response I got was the same pet service delivery or plane. i will attach the email addresses and the phone number that were used to get £60 from me, I am sure they change them a lot but who knows maybe it will help someone. And if anyone knows who I can contact in the police to start a case against them please tell me, I have saved all the number all the emails I got everything as well as receipt from post office. Answer:
Thank you for alerting people to this scam. If the police are not being very helpful, I'd recommend that you contact your local Trading Standards office or Citizens Advice bureau. I've dealt with Trading Standards in the past and have found them very helpful and quick to take action against fraudsters. If you have any idea whom the telephone provider is for the numbers you were asked to call, contact them too. I used to work for a telephony Company and we always investigated suspected cases of fraud and would then blacklist those subscribers so that they couldn't get another telephone number or internet service from us. When people are looking to adopt cats or kittens, it's best only to deal with animal rescue shelters or registered breeders.
