Question about fleas/eggs and preventing an infestation in my home! Please help!?
-
I just moved into a new apartment, and I started seeing my cat scratching more than usual. I didn't even think it was fleas at first, so I let it go. About a week or 2 later, I decided to observe my cat's furr and spotted just ONE flea on his stomach. I then searched thru his entire body from head to toe, but couldn't see anything, I even checked him for hours. I know he is not heavily infested with fleas, but just one flea can cause a lot of problems! The very next day I put him on frontline plus, and I gave him a capstar pill, which I am giving him every 24 hours. Now, my main worry is how to treat the eggs that landed into my apartment? I bombed the apartment a week after treating my cat, and I haven't seen anything around the house. I made sure to wash all bedding and etc. I sprayed the floors with "Enforcer Flea Spray", and I also sprinkled borax on the carpets and left it there for a while. I did a lot of sweeping and vacuuming, but I am still very paranoid!! I am not sure if I am doing enough, because how do I know what stage the flea is in if I am not even sure exactly when my cat first got the flea? I know it is most hardest to kill the flea when it is in the pupae stage, but is it too soon for it to be in the pupae stage? How is each stage? I know my cat is fine, and I haven't seen 1 flea or even gotten bit at all, I just need to worry about my home so the cycle doesnt continue. Should I wait another week for the eggs to hatch into the "larvae" stage, and then bomb again? Is this too much of an overkill, or am I doing the right thing? Someone please help, because I do not want these damn fleas to show up all over the place after they start coming out of their cocoons! I am glad I caught the problem just before seeing a million fleas jumping around, I just need some advice to help keep them away!! Please answer all of the questions I asked if possible, as I am a nervous wreck! I am even having nightmares of fleas!! Lol.

Answer:
If you keep him on Frontline Plus (a monthly medication that's placed on his skin between his shoulder blades or the back of his neck), it will kill current/future eggs and adults fleas, eat mites, and like 15 different kinds of ticks and as long you're cat is on it for months and u do other preventative measures, (as long ur kitty is in another location breathing better air), then your concerns will slowly go away. Hire Orkin and see a vet ASAP. I have 3 kitties and never had to fumegate, just use Frontline Plus monthly, my Orkin guys comes every other month, and see a vet annually.
