Is my cat OK if he has a dry and warm nose?

Cat nose problems.?

  • Ok so, my cat is 1 and a half years old and for 10 months her nose has been kinda like peeling. I don't think it hurts her but every week I have to take a kleenex and clean the outside of her nose. This cat is half ragdoll and half something else. Does anybody have the same problem with their cat? HELP!

    Hi Victoria...I have a Bengal who had suffered for 1.5 years since he was a kitten from the same problem. I had contacted many resources to see if this was a common occurence. From what I've discovered it isn't uncommon, however no one has any medical recommendations for curing the symptom. I was told that some cats will grow out of this so in the meantime I used vitamin E capsules to keep my cat's nose moist. Now that he's 2 his dry/chapped nose has healed on it's own.

Have you taken her to a vet lately? just to make sure it's nothing very serious. Could be that it is dry in your house, in winter when the heat is on it's a good thing to have a humidifier, so the air isn't too dry, like the previous answer, vitamin E capsule opened and put some on, of coarse the cat may be licking it off. try it first to see if it helps before going to the expense of a vet.

My older cat's nose was like that when I adopted her from the shelter. They told me it was from the dry, air-conditioned environment in the cattery and that she had been poking her nose through the bars of her kennel a lot. I put a tiny smudge of Vaseline on it a couple of times a day and it healed up in about 2 weeks.
