Do you have experince with kennels? are kennels bad for an animal's mentality?

Cats are solitary hunters,and don't really give a crap about attention and company. Also, they don't hold grudges for long. In any case, there are animal boarders who will let your cat play in their house rather than be locked up in a cage.

Your cat would do best in a home, not a kennel. When you get that cat back from the Kennel, it will probably tear your house apart.

It depends on the kennel you put your cat in, some have great facilities with a large "run" for your cat with a window or limited access to outdoors, toys, beds, scratching poles and all sorts of stuff to make your cat comfortable. A good kennel will ask what sort of food your cat likes to eat, and even if they don't, they will give it a balanced diet. Often, you can take something that your cat loves, like a favourite toy or blanket, to make it feel more at home, and the people who work there will spend time with your cat so it doesn't feel too lonely. Alternatively, you could pay someone to come and feed your cat in your house, or even stay there while you are away, that way it doesnt have to leave the comfort of his own home, and the person can give him more attention.
