How do you get a stuck tape out of a vcr/tv?

How do you get a VHS movie tape out that is stuck in VHS holder?

  • We put a VHS movie in our Magnovox television that is equipped to play VHS movies and DVD movies. Now the tape is stuck in the television.

  • Answer:

Since it is a combo unit and TVs have very high amperage and voltages (up to 300Amps and 25,000V no I am not kidding) you really need to take it in and have it removed by a professional. This service will not be expensive and the VCR portion probably needs some form of repair to function properly. If the cassette is damaged do not despair, if the tape portion is undamaged you can take it out of one cassette and place in another blank one! You may also want to consider a upgrade to a HDTV and a separate DVD/VCR combo.

Disconnect it and remove the screws so you can remove the cover, after that it is simple to take the film out. If it is not possible you can cut the part that is stock and unite the film with a transparent tape. If you do this the movie could be seen but it will skip that part and do not play it to often cause the tape will get too hot. Take this opportunity to remove all the dust inside the VHS player.

You may want to get a professional on electronics to do it. Once I had that problem and we tried to unscrew it and it didn't help we ended up pulling the cassette and ruinning the VHS section. So I dont recommend you do it yourself.
