What is the difference between a DVD home theater system and a regular home theater system?

Is there a difference between a DVD Home Theater System and a Home Theater System?

  • Can you use a 5.1 DVD Home Theater System to play the TV audio or computer audio or does it mean that the system only works for the DVD player audio and not the other? I am currently looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882676248

  • Answer:

Then difference is A "DVD home theater" is basically a HTIAB or home theater in a box and they Aren't very upgrade friendly. Also if something goes wrong with one component it is junk. They also only have a couple of inputs on them. You are better off spending a little more money and buying everything separate. I.E. Speaker, Receiver, DVD player. Other people on this site recommend this Onkyo HT-S 3300 it is a 5.1 receiver with speakers and it is 400 then all you need to do is add a dvd or blu ray player.
