What's wrong with my surround sound?

• So, got annoyed with the fact our surround sound didn't work cause whoever set it up last just plugged anything in anywhere and kinda hoped for the best. After tracing all the cables around and ensuring they were all connected correctly (in the back of the subwoofer/amp and in the back of the PC) I run the config test for it which tells me that my FL&Sub aren't working but getting good response from all other speakers on sound test. I can instantly rule out cable/socket issues as FL&FR share the same cable however FR works. Same story for Center&Sub However here's the really messed up bit: During playback sound ONLY comes out of my Front Left speaker (albeit quietly), Plus I know the subwoofer isn't broken as it worked prior to me sorting out the connections. So all the speakers work, but just not together. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh yeah and it's a VideoLogic ZXR-500 5.1 system.

  If your speakers are in fact connected properly, then I think its safe to say that your receiver is source of your problems. Playback that comes through only the FL speaker, it sounds like the amp is pretty much dead. Next time, buy a receiver from a quality brand like Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo. Good luck.
