How can I hook up my subwoofer to my receiver?

    Your receiver's sub output is not amplified meaning that the signal being sent out from the sub out needs to be amplified by an external amp. MTX subs are made for cars and will not give you the same kind of sound as a home theater sub will.

needs an amplifier to power the speaker. and I hope the reciever has a OUTPUT for a sub not an INPUT! An INPUT here would be for a surround processor to input a signal to the reciever. If it has an input it is not bad, but an INPUT will not give you a signal to drive an amplifier that will drive the speaker. You need a Sub Out to feed a Amplifier to drive the Speaker!

go from the speaker out puts of amp(speaker wires left and right) to the speaker inputs on the sub , forget about using jacks try it this way.
