Connecting a new dvd player to TV?

Connecting Memorex DVD player to RCA TV??

  • I just bought a DVD Player the other day from Target. It's a Memorex and my TV is a yr 2000 RCA tv. It does not have the 3 colored input/output jacks but the DVD player does. I have a VCR hooked up to the TV right now which has 2 sets of the colored jacks. So my question is, how do I connect the DVD player to the TV??? Can it go through the VCR? I am so confused and terrible with this kind of thing! Thanks!

  • Answer:

You cannot go through the VCR without messing up the picture. The RF modulator that you need can be purchased for about $30. You will hook up both the VCR and the DVD player to the modulator and the modulator to the TV.

If your TV only has antenna in, you probably don't want to connect the DVD player to it. It can be done, but you will need to buy an RF modulator. Running the DVD through the VCR will only cause you problems with a feature called Macro vision. The colors will be wrong. My suggestion is to get a TV that has at least separate Audio Video inputs (Yellow, Red, White). Hope this helps.

Do you have a cable comming from the wall? If you do, it would be easier to use it instead of the RCA jacks.
