Blu ray and HD DVD player?

Can a Blu-Ray DVD play on a non Blu-Ray DVD player (Regular DVD player) in non HD?

  • Answer:

No, the Blu-Ray dvd format is completely different format than a regular dvd. It holds almost 5 times the information of a regular dvd. The laser on a Blu-Ray uses a much shorter wavelength than a regular dvd. You can, however, play a regular dvd in a Blu-Ray dvd player. Hope this helps.

- Blu-Ray DVD = Blu-Ray player only - HD DVD = HD DVD player only - Blu Ray DVD player = virtually all optical disc formats except HD DVD - HD DVD player = virtually all optical disc formats except Blu-Ray The industry is in the works of a truly universal player that will play both Blu-Ray and HD DVDs. Yet another technological advancement soon to come. :) H a p p y H o m e T h e a t e r i n g !
