NEED HELP CONNECTING BOSE 321, PS3, Directv HD DVR, Toshiba, HD-A3 TO Polaroid HDTV?
-
I have a Polaroid 4011TLXB HDTV, Bose 321 GSX, PS3 40 GB, TOSHIBA HD A3, DIRECTV HD DVR, I need to know how to connect this all together for the best picture and sound. I want to use the TOSHIBA HD DVD FOR M\OVIES IN HD DVD, the PS3 for games and blue ray dvds. That said I would appreciate the correct info to put all of this mess together. Any expert help would be appreciated with this setup. Thanks in advance.

Answer:
Start with the TV and HD DVR. Connect the DVR to the TV with component cables (Red, Blue, Green) for video. I say use the component because 1080i is the highest broadcast resolution and component will do this just fine. From the DVR use a coaxial digital cable to your Bose for sound. There's your DVR and part of the Bose. Next, connect your PS3 to the TV via HDMI cable for video. Then use a optical cable from the PS3 to the Bose for sound. That takes care of the PS3. For the Tosh A3, you can connect it straight to the TV and get you video. From there you need to use RCA cables (Red and White for stereo) to the Bose. Since you only have a 2.1 system this shouldn't effect sound too much. The issue is that your components (PS3 and HDA3) don't have coaxial digital outputs like you DVR most likely has so you're going to have to settle for stereo sound with at least one of them. To me this seems like you will get the most out of what you have. Hope this helped.

If you have 2 HDMI inputs run the HDDVR in 1 and the A3 into the other, if 3 then run the ps3 into that otherwise use a component input for it. I run the sound out from the tv to the soundsystem - mine is just dolby5.1 (not HD digital) so I use the composite output. If your sound is digital then use the optical audio output from the tv to the soundsystem. Since you use the ps3 for BR and an A3, you may want an HDMI switcher or something for using only the HDMI ports for those inputs and only have 2 of them - again if you have 3, then problem solved.
