What is the best antenna for a cb?

What kind of wire do I use for a cb antenna?

  • Ok. So I noticed that i can unskrew the cb anteena from its magnetic mount and it happens to fit very nicely on the fm antennas mount. So if i just get rid of the fm antenna and skrew on the cb antenna... can I... Use the existing antenna wire? If not. Can I splice into it very close with the proper rg58, leaving only about 3 or 4 inches of the old wire, right before the antenna. I only ask cuz the antenna assembly is kind of hard to get to. But if not. Then ill just re wire it. So... How much wire do I need to run from my CB to My Auto antenna. Whats the specific length and what kind of cable.... ok thanks.

  • Answer:

RG58 is the right choice of wire. Try not to splice these wires together. If a splice is really needed; use the right kind of connectors for the application. Spliced Antenna Wires can lead to signal loss, and possible damage to your Transceiver. I've done this many years ago... nothing has changed. I wish you and yours the very best! I hope this will work well 4 U!
