Whats the best home theater speakers out there?

Home Theater Speaker and Receiver Help?

  • I have what I would think is a pretty simple question about home theater set-up. I'm tight on money so I buy speakers and other components depending on whats on sell and what I can afford and then I will replace most of the stuff down the road when I can afford it. The receiver I have (Denon AVR-1611) is 7.1 ch @ 75 watts each. My question is why are all 7 ch the same wattage, don't I want my front 2 speakers to push more then the rear. The rear speakers I have are 100 watts each (Polk Audio RC85i) and the front are 275 watts each (Polk Audio Monitor 70 3-Way). Will I be wasting most of the performance I could get out of the front speakers or is there a way I can change this without buying a new receiver do they make channel amps for home theater like they have for car audio? Would I be over thinking this or missing something?

    Amplifier Output Details 110 Watt - 6 Ohm - at 1 kHz - THD 0.7% - 7 channel(s) ( surround ), 75 Watt - 8 Ohm - 20 - 20000 Hz - THD 0.05% - 7 channel(s) ( surround ). If your speakers are rated at 6 Ohm, it will be pushing more wattage. Can't you adjust the volume on each speaker? Set them to what you want. If the system has auto sound calibration, you can do it that way, if not do it manually as I stated above.

I would not even worry about it. You do not need to match the power of the receiver with the speakers, unless you listen at very loud volume. Most receiver and speakers can handle more power than what it is rated for at a short period. You are not going to miss anything. Hope this will help you out.

I agree with the above answers. But do not support speakers that are a lot higher than what your receiver is able to give. my 2 cents and from exp.
