How to connect my sound system into TV?

How to connect pioneer surround sound system to flat screen tv?

  • i have a samsung HD flatscreen tv. i got a pioneer sx 218 surround sound system. if i plug a ipod or dvd player to the reciever on the surround sound system i get the sound out of the speakers. now how do you connect the reciever to the tv to get surround sound for when you watch tv??????

  • Answer:

Depending on how you tune in the TV you need to connect the audio OUTPUT of the TV or your satellite or cable box to the INPUT of the surround system. The specific type of cable you need depends on the type of connects available to you. For surround sound you need HDMI, optical or digital coax. If you only have analog stereo (red/white RCA jacks) you can't get surround. If you use the external surround system turn off the speakers on the TV.
