How to get rid of 'surround sound' in headphones?

Logitech X-540 surround sound / matrix mode issue, only Centre and Front Right speakers work... help?

  • I think theres a problem with my actual system, but I have a 5.1 system hooked up (the three 3.5mm cables) but I only get sound from the Centre and Front RIght speakers. When I use Matrix Mode, I get sound from the Left Rear speaker too, but its all distorted and Surround-Sound like, but the other speakers don't work! I'm outputting Optical Audio from my LCD TV to a Headset module which outputs the 5.1 surround sound (The Headphones are quite expensive, and have surround sound inbuilt, so that module isn't the problem, its the speakers/sub thing. If anyone knows how to help, please do! I'd love to have proper surround sound! =]

  • Answer:

Uh oh....distorted sound from the Left Rear....and dead outputs too. I can't SEE your system, but when you have distortion and it's not a crappy connector...It's your AMP or the Dolby Processor that's distorting your signal.... So...it's your HEADSET module OR the speakers IF they do the amplification of the Module's output signal.... Do you have a second set of speakers that you could connect?? Most people will have a set somewhere laying around...
