Shown Below: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46212047@N04/4245214887/ So I decided to look around my house for a place where I would hook up the speakers and I found this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46212047@N04/4245215459/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/46212047@N04/4245216099/ So what do I need to hook up the speakers to my TV?

  • Answer:

You need a receiver to power the speakers. Connect the digital audio output on the TV to the receiver input, and attach the speaker wires from the wall to the receiver speaker terminals. Yamaha and Denon make excellent receivers. Those look like tiny speakers, though, they may not sound very good. You may want to replace them at some point. If there are only two, they may have been used as rear surround speakers, and you'll need a pair of front speakers, a center speaker, and possibly a subwoofer. If you use these small speakers, you'll definitely need a subwoofer to provide bass.

Well I assume you need a reciever, but not sure if those small speakers are worth it. If it was me I would take a picture of the wires and go to an experienced home theater store and show the pics, they should be able to point out what you need.

It looks like you have wiring for four pairs of speakers. You will need a receiver and a speaker switch box. The box will allow you to turn each pair of speakers on and off independently, and also make sure that the load is safe for your receiver to run.

You can not connect this speakers directly to the tv. Your tv does not have enough power to drive this speaker at a good level without burning up the amplifier on your tv. You will need a receiver either in 5.1 or 7.1. here are some good receivers in the market: Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo, Denon and Yamaha. I do not see a sub woofer or a center speaker, but have 4 speakers from the photo. This would be good for the 7.1 system, 2 back and 2 side speakers. You will need to match the speaker already installed for the front and center for the best sound id all possible. Here are some good speaker brands to look at: JBL, Infinity, Definitive Technology, Energy, Mirage, Klipsch and Polk audio. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on speakers and receivers. Hope this will help you out.
