Installing a home theatre system?

• I have a LG LCD TV & a philips home theatre system. I've been trying for days to hook up the audio from my cable TV to the home theatre system! I have my home theatre system hooked up to the TV with an HDMI cable & the settings on my TV to "home theatre" but i dont know what to do on the home theatre system to make it play audio from cable tv... please tell me i dont need another cord!

  Alright, first off I'm going to make a few assumptions. I'm assuming you have the Phillips HTS3371D/F7 system. This was the closest match to the model # you provided, and as such it should be the right model (hopefully). Secondly, I'm assuming the "cable TV" you mention is not a separate item from the LG LCD you have. If that is the case here is my recommendation. The HDMI port on the back of the TV is an HDMI input meaning it will only ever take in audio and video from another source never send it to something else. That being said if you have an antenna hooked up to the TV and you are trying to send the audio from the TV to the Phillips home theater system, you need to use a digital optical cable to send the audio from the digital optical port on the TV to the digital optical port on the home theater system. [Update] [Alright with just basic cable, then your best option would be the digital optical cable I suggested.] Hopefully that doesn't mean you need any extra cords, I know how expensive good quality cords/cables can be.
