Do I need crossover for subs?

Bypass Passive Crossover?

  • i have a pair of mtxtp212's and i was wondering if i should bypass the passive cossover inside of them....now please READ this part carefully......i cut the tweeters from the crossover and wired them to a seperate terminal i installed myself....i still have the 2 subs wired to the crossover and on the main terminal for the subs i have it connected to a car amplifier which is powered by a 12v power supply....that might swound a little confusing but just imagine that i dont have the tweeters....the subs go into the crossover that gets pluyged into the amplifier......so my question is should i bypass the crossover since the tweeter isnt there anymore and just wire the subs right to the car amp...thanks in advance.......btw if you dont have any knowledge on audio plz dont bother wasting your time answering and also dont give my any alternatives to a car amp...i already have it set-up just need to know if i should bypass the crossover.

  • Answer:

NO!!! u should not. The x-over is there 4 a very good reason. It seperates the freq so that the proper ones go the proper speakers. if u by pass it u send all the high and low to all the speakers. so you could send potentially damageing freq to your sub.
