Hooking up surround sound?

Help on hooking up surround sound?

• ok so i have a regular tv, not a flat screen or anything like that and i also have surround sound, but it only plays for movies on the tv/video channel, i would like to have surround sound while playing the 360 and or watching tv maybe, but i don't know how to set that up or if i need a lcd or plasma tv to do that. ( i have a philips surround sound dolby digital pro-logic 2)

  This depends on your TV and signal source. If you have cable without a cable box look for 2 RCA outputs on the back of the TV. They should be labeled "Audio Out" or something like that. You want to connect from those to the inputs on the back of the Philips surround sound system. Whenever you watch TV just change the source on the Philips to the matching input (aux. input probably). When you do this you may find that the TV has to be turned up to hear sound through the system. That means the TV is set to variable output in the TVs audio menu. Go into the menu and change it to fixed output. You can then turn the TVs speakers all the way down and listen through the system for the best sound. If you have a cable or satellite box you can do the same thing but connect from the box to the surround sound instead of from the TV. If you have a box that has a digital out and if the Philips has the same type of digital input the connect those for the best sound available. Remember to switch inputs on the Philips whenever you switch inputs on the TV. Good Luck.
