How do i connect my audio to my tv from an HD cable box?

The audio information isn't transfered over a DVI cable. you need to use something else like RCA.

There are a few ways to do what you are asking. First of all, you need to figure out if surround sound is important to you. If so, then you will need to use an optical cable to run HD cable box to a surround sound receiver. From there the sound will then run to your 5.1 speaker setup (i.e. - left/right/center/rears and subwoofer). If surround sound isn't important to you (or you don't have a receiver) then you will need to use a left/right audio cable (or RCA cable). The connections will be from the back of the box to the corresponding inputs on the back of your TV. These cables are typically red and white and make sure that you plug them into the correct side. I plug the red one into right and then white into the left. Easy to remember with the (r)ed to (r)ight. If you don't have any of those cables, then you can use the audio cables from a 3 cable package. Usually this is a red/white/yellow cable where the yellow connector is for video. In this example the yellow wire will not be plugged into anything. One further item of interest: Make sure that the RCA inputs that you are plugging into are the same input that you are using for your video input. What I mean, if you are plugging your video into "Input 1" then make sure that you plug your audio into "Input 1". I hope this helps.
