Can I connect a universal remote to a comcast box?

Can't connect my new standard dvd player to my comcast digital cable box.?

I have a new wall mounted tv and have the cable box in a different part of the room. I connected the red,yellow and white to the cable box but can't seem to get the input correct on the tv/cable boxes to sync with each other. I have 3 options that are highlighted for input on the tv. TV, Cable, Input 5, Input 6. I have tryed them all with the dvd player playing and nothing is working.

Some Motorola cable boxes were manufactured with RCA input jacks (Yellow/Red/White) for future/optional use by the branded client (Comcast) However, Comcast does NOT use these inputs. They are not activated to pass any other signals through the box to your tv (passthrough) You will need to connect any other devices directly to your TV
