Why is home surround speaker more expensive than Home theater?

Is it bad to place a home theater surround sound speaker next to my ps3?

To keep it short, I have a sony home theater system and place the left speaker 3 inches to the left of the playstation 3. Its a new home theater system and the ps3 slim if that changes anything. Any answers are very welcome. Thank you for the help

What you want to look for is to see if the speaker is shielded or not. Speakers have magnets inside them that can cause havoc in certain electronics (used to be a problem with CRT TVs). My concern would be having an unshielded magnet close to the hard drive in the PS3. However, most home theater speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with other electronics. Assuming your speakers are shielded I'd bet your ok.
