Why do I have green static on my tv when playing a dvd?

Why would the color on my tv be different when playing a dvd? ?

  • When ever I try to play a DVD the color is always wrong but the color is fine when watching regular tv. Do I have the stereo and tv hooked up wrong?

  • Answer:

Other than an obvious problem with a loose component cable (red-green-blue) connection, the other issue may be calibration. Most newer TVs maintain separate calibration and color profiles for each input. You may be able to change the calibration(through the TV menu) for the DVD input.

It's probably a setting on your dvd player.

Is your component cables connected right? Red-red, blue-blue, green-green...

Many TVs maintain separate settings for each video source. All you have to do is correct the color while watching a DVD, and it should stay corrected (without affecting regular TV). If you have anything close to the correct colors, your DVD player is probably hooked up right. Put in a DVD with some good flesh tones or other reference colors. Go into your TV's menus and adjust Hue and Saturation, which may be called Tint and Color. Exit the menus and you're done.
