Connecting tv to DVD hifi System?

Connecting Surround Sound to TV with built-in DVD - which cable??

  • HI, I have a Technika lcd tv with a built in DVD player. I want to hook up my surround sound system to it. I previously just connected the surround sound to the headphone socket on the tv but this new TV doesn't have one. In the DVD menu section of the manual, it says "select this option if you are connecting to a surround sounds amplifier via coax cable", so this implies this is possible. However, I don't have a clue what sort of cable to use and where on the TV to plug it into. There's no obvious Audio Out. thanks if anyone has any advice.

It would be helpful if you would list the model number you are referring to. Those manuals usually cover a range of models and you may not have the output specified. However, an HDTV with absolutely no audio outputs? Weird.

Near the DVD player part there should be a female RCA jack (often colored orange). This is a coaxial-digital output or Dolby Digital output or SPDIF output. Run this to the coaxial-digital/DVD RCA jack on your surround sound receiver. Use a long video cable (with yellow markings).
