Problem with my blu ray movie?

• Back in february my family purchased a new 50" plasma 1080p TV, and got a blu ray player along with it. Its a samsung player that cost $400 at the time (I forget the exact product code. I think samsung only has 1). Every single time we have rented a movie in the last few months, at least 8 times throughout the movie the sound clicks, makes a quiet static noise, and then the sound and the picture is out of sync. Rewinding the movie back a second or two fixes the problem. Other times (maybe only twice this has happened), the movie stops and goes to the default samsung blu ray player screen, forcing us to press play to start it again The thing is, only rented blu ray movies pose this problem. New ones dont have a problem and DVD's dont have a problem. The last few movies we rented did have a few minor scratches, but nothing more than whats to be expected (NOTE: our blu ray is running HDMI into a pioneer reciever, which then put the sound into our 7 suround sound speakers. The blu ray sound runs to the reciever through a coxial audio out cable) WHats the problem? should e send our player in?
