How do i get surround sound on my ps3?

• I have a 5.1 surround sound home theatre from philips.. However i can't seem to get surround sound when playing on my ps3.. As the blu ray player (the reviever) that came with the speakers & the subwoofer do NOT have an optical output, atleast i wasnt able to find one.. And seeing as the ps3 only have 1 HDMI slot i can't seem to figure this out.. The model number is HTS5560/12.. Of you have any idea how to get surround sound please explain in detail! Thanks

  To hear 5.1 surround sound with the PS3, you should have a receiver with at least one HDMI input or an optical audio input (inputs, not outputs). That home theater system only has a coaxial audio input and stereo audio inputs. That would allow you to connect the optical audio output of the PS3 to the coaxial audio input of the home theater receiver, which would allow 5.1 surround sound. Your other option is to send stereo audio to the home theater by using a PS3 AV cable that has stereo audio plugs. This would be 2.0 stereo, not 5.1 surround. You could still use an HDMI cable for the video connection to the TV, the PS3 can output video and audio through two different ports at once.
