Is it possible to convert stereo to surround sound instantly?

Looking for a way to create either false stereo OR dolby digital surround sound?

  • I've got a M.U.G.E.N. rig that contains a substantial mix of music files. I ported the entire game over to the original Xbox (which has been discontinued for some time now). The thing is half the music contains stereo sound & high quality audio whereas the other half houses Arcade tracks from beat-'em-ups from late 80s to early 90s. The latter tracks output a low quality sound and most of them are not in stereo. I tried to increase the volume through Audacity but they're still ridiculously low. I considered increasing them as high as I could but I am aware they will lose quality so I am making that a last resort! I figured one of the reasons why the other tracks sound normal is because of the true stereo sound. I aim to put the low-tier tracks on par with those stereo ones either with a type of fake stereo or dolby digital (if there is a way to achieve that) I'm more than open to advice. The type of programs I'm working with so far are: Audacity, Format Factory, Windows Media Encoder 9 (sound portion)

  • Answer:

If you can, reverse the polarity of the right channel signal. Synthesizing stereo is a little harder.
