It will transmit my uverse cable fine but when it comes to the blu ray player it will only transmit the video. ( the uverse and bluray player are going into the receiver via hdmi. And the I have 1 hdmi transmitting out to the tv.) Any ideas??

Answer:
Connect HDMI from Blu-ray player to TV for video then optical cable from Blu-ray player to receiver for audio.

When the sound comes from your BluRay player - the receiver is stripping off the audio to send to it's speakers (which is why the receiver exists) and just sending the video to the TV. This way the TV speakers do not conflict with the 5.1 sound stage. If you are not going to use the receiver for the sound - why run sound through the receiver?

Use optical or coax digital audio cables for the audio.
